its time for a reading give away! As I am a bit tired right now with everything, I am just going to say that anyone who posts in the comment section for this post will be entered to win. I will keep this open until Saturday night and announce the winner Sunday morning.
Now an update about my mom. They are holding her over the weekend. They ran additional tests. They have also told her she has diabetes. I do not know enough about this disease, but hopeful that its because of her weight, and perhaps if she shed 30-40 lbs (or more) that perhaps she can loose the diabetes as well?
I know they had inserted 4 new shunts into her artery, and turns out its the SAME artery the last two were put in just over 5 years ago. She said that its all in a row and looks "bad" in her opinion on where they had to put them all. Hopefully that is an eye opener for her.
The dietitian is to come in today to talk with her. My mom at this point I know is stubborn, and last time never really listened. Hopefully with the new information and what she say with the x-ray type thing, that this has really opened her eyes.
It has mine.

Hi Cheri
I am very sorry to hear the news about your mom. I sympathize with you as you want only the best for her. But she has to change. Sometimes an eye opener just won't cut it. Stubborn? Yes. I know my dad smokes and I really wish he would quit. I know he's quit a few times, but I think he is back at it again. Anyhow I hope this really sinks in with her and life improves for her.

Sorry to hear about your mom Cheri! Sometimes parents can be very frustrating but hopefully enough is happening around your mom to let her see the urgency in the change that needs to happen! Make sure you take sometime for yourself to un-wind and de-stress!!
I am sorry to hear about your mom. I am sending good thoughts your way. Hopefully things can improve after this.

I said a prayer for your mom for a speedy recovery!

sorry about your mom hopefully things start getting better soon:)
sorry about your mom hopefully things start getting better soon:)
More hugs Cheri.
I agree she has to make the change for herself. My Pop has diabetes and is overweight but it's completely controlled by diet(eating right foods) and 30 min of exercise each day and doesn't need meds.
Weight sometimes is a contributing factor but many times it's not. I really hope her doctors sat her down and scared her silly with the complications that can come from not managing Diabetes.
It's so hard to watch our loved ones abuse their bodies and not listen to the doctors. ++++ vibes that she makes a turn around and begins taking her health seriously.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom Cheri! Many hugs to you! I'll be praying for her.
Praying for your mom!
Cheri so sorry about your mom. I will say a prayer that everything is ok. As for the diabetes, it can be controlled by diet alone, if you stick to the diet well. My grandfather and aunt both have it and control it very well with their diets.
Although losing weight will help too.
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I will put her on my prayer list. My dad was a diabetic and it was always tough keeping him in order!! I hope things get better soon!

healing and hugs sent your way!!

Hi Cherri, so sorry to hear about your mother.
My Grandma suffered with diabetes most of her life. Bad news-it probably won't go away by losing weight. Good news-doctors can control it really well now with different drugs. My grandma lived a long and happy life.
Hope things start to improve soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your mom, too! Sometimes it takes something to hit you like a ton of bricks to make a change. It takes a lot sometimes. I hope she is doing better soon. :)
Hi Cheri,
I'm so sorry to hear about everything you're going through with your Mom. My Dad had triple bypass surgery a year & a half ago and you'd think that would've opened all our eyes, but it did so only temporarily, then we all, including him went back to our old, poor eating habits. I hope everything works our for the best!
I'm sorry to hear about your mom Cheri. It sounds like she'll have to make some real changes to her lifestyle, and I'm sure that won't be easy. Prayers to you and your mom.
Hi Cheri,
I'm really sorry to hear about ur Mom. I hope she gets better soon and start to take care of herself now that she knows what is going on...
Take care,

Cheri:
Sorry to hear about your mom. My mother is my best-friend & confident. I cant imagine how worried you must be for her right now.
My mother is just as stubborn with taking care of her own health. She has belly fat (from not exercising and eating bad food) & knows she has issues with cholesterol but is stubborn about going to the doctor for it. My sister & have tried "tough love" remedies and I even tried talking to her this week (since I am due with her 1st grandchild any day now)about wanting her to "be around" for him. Not sure if it has sunken in yet.
Does your mom have type 1 or type 2diabetes? My husband has had "diagnosed type 2 diabetes" for over two years now (went undiagnosed for 10 years) & has beem able to go off of almost all of his med's due to his weight loss - he lost 35 lbs with the help of accupuncture management/treatment.
As someone mentioned in a previous post.. make sure you also take care of yourself. The caregivers need support too!

Hi Cheri,
So sorry to hear about your mom, sometimes parents don't think they have to listen. My dad always told me "do as I say, not as I do" it was really hard not to be like him as he always lead what seemed to be a very fun life. He is now suffering the consequences though. I will be sending good thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she improves
Hi Cheri,
Sorry to hear about your mom. Diabetes runs in my family; with diet and medication you can still have a long life. My grandma has been diabetic for 30 years now. Hope your mom gets better soon.
